We are a group of DMS graduate students that recognizes the importance of stepping outside of our research laboratories in order to promote science education. To encourage and facilitate student learning through the challenging yet immensely rewarding process of scientific inquiry, we have created a Harvard GSAS Organization called The Journal of Emerging Investigators: an open-access, peer-reviewed journal focused on the natural and physical sciences that publishes original research and review articles written by middle and high school students. Students that submit work to JEI will learn about the scientific review process and receive feedback from PhD students that work in the field. The top submissions will be published in our online journal.
The Journal of Emerging Investigators is currently seeking students who are interested in being a part of the organization. We currently need people who are interested in serving as a reviewer or helping with advertising and publicity. Furthermore, we will be hosting a “writers workshop” for local high school students to learn the basics of writing a science article. We need graduate and medical students who would be interested in helping organize and teach at this event.
